As part of the MetroLink project, in 2027, a new metro line will begin transporting the public across Dublin in Ireland. The line will run north-south, responding to the demographic challenges and changes within the Irish capital. This large-scale project will connect Swords in northern Dublin, close to the airport, with Sandyford in south Dublin. Over the 26 kilometer route, 6 kilometers of the line will run underground.
This project requires the construction of 15 new metro stations and will create 4'000 new jobs during the construction phase. By 2027, the new line will be able to carry more than 50 million passengers per year.
In order to fulfill the requirements for the project, BG Consulting Engineers – in partnership with the local consultant Curtins Consulting – has been selected by the Commission for Railway Regulation (CRR), the governmental regulation body for the Irish railway transportation, to provide design consultancy services through a framework contract. As a result of the quality of BG's references, its multidisciplinary offering and the experts who are an integral part of each design unit, BG successfully convinced the CRR of the added value we can and will provide.
