The Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games will be held from January 9 to 22, 2020, with 1,880 athletes aged 15 to 18 from more than 70 countries competing. The competitions will take place in the cantons of Vaud, Valais and Graubünden, as well as in neighbouring France.
BG: Site Access and Construction Site Planner
BG Consulting Engineers has just signed a service provider partnership with the YOG to support them in planning effective vehicle access and parking policies for the various competition sites. As the construction site planner, BG is also assisting the YOG in developing the Main Media Centre facilities in the Le Flon district of Lausanne.
“Sport embodies positive human values and the pursuit of excellence driven by the strength of team spirit. We are proud to share these values and to be able to associate our name with the YOG 2020 in Lausanne by supporting this event with our organisational and engineering expertise”, says Pierre Epars, CEO of BG Consulting Engineers.
YOG by and for Young People
YOG 2020 plans to fully engage with young people and help new talent reach their full potential, showcasing Switzerland’s image as a young, formative and innovative country. The athletes will be housed in the Vortex, an iconic building boasting 1,200 photovoltaic panels. This building was financed and built by the pension fund of the Caisse de pensions de l’État de Vaud (state pension fund) and will be used as student housing after the Games. On Friday, November 1, along with some 850 other volunteers, BG employees also pitched in to assemble the furniture for the apartments of the athletes and their delegations.
