The project for the Toulouse metro Line A and underground stations extension won the award for innovative design and construction techniques.
At the 5th edition of the ITA (International Tunnel Awards) in Miami, ITA's treasurer Mr. Gérard Seingre awarded for Technical Project Innovation of the Year the trio Owner / Prime Contractor / Engineering Consortium of the project for extension of underground stations in the Toulouse metro Line A.
Increase of the line's capacity
The new 52 m long trains, needed for increasing the capacity of this extremely busy line, could not be accommodated in three existing stations. The extension of these stations while keeping the subway in operation was the trigger to develop innovative solutions for the construction works that minimized any inconvenience for the passengers.
New trains in December 2019
The ITA award for Technical Project Innovation of the Year 2019 rewards the joint effort of TISSEO, of the Prime Contractor and of the Engineering Consortium led by Eiffage. Part of the consortium, BG optimized the project and carried out the final design. The success of this operation will enable the deployment of the new trains in December 2019.
We invite you to watch the video published by TISSEO, which presents the implementation of the innovative solutions:
