A better use of available energy, in a rational and optimal manner, is a key challenge. We carry out energy audits in industrial or housing environments, in order to identify and implement useful ways to reduce energy consumption.

Green buildings

Buildings are particularly energy-hungry, which is why energy efficiency and strict energy standards are so clearly needed. We support our customers in designing green buildings, without compromising on comfort.

Our services include:

  • Energy audits of buildings
    Recommendations on energy upgrades to the building envelope and the technical systems. These recommendations are accompanied by the related investment and savings.
  • Eco-design and public inquiries 
    Our recommendations are made with energy efficiency in mind (choice of materials, insulation thickness, heating systems, renewable energy systems) and we handle the energy aspect of the public inquiry.
  • Building physics assessments
    We offer services in building physics with expertise in construction-related problems, in compliance with the Swiss SIA 180 standard. Our tools can simulate thermal bridges, summer comfort, and moisture migration.
  • Energy optimisation 
    Examples of energy optimisation include changing heating curve settings, minimising air flow and optimising circulation pumps. In this context, our energo certification was renewed.

Energy efficiency in industry and wastewater treatment

Strict regulatory constraints govern industrial facilities and constitute a major challenge for operators. Our multidisciplinary teams find solutions to minimise the environmental impact and offer valuable advice at each stage of an industrial project: creation, day-to-day operations, modification, and shutdown.

Our services include:

  • Preliminary and in-depth industrial audits 
    The purpose of the audit is to identify the biggest potential savings and then to develop and quantify the most profitable actions.
  • Energy optimisation for WWTPs 
    We have been actively involved in WWTP design for nearly 50 years. We put all our knowledge to work to design and renovate energy efficient or even energy-positive WWTPs!
  • Energy integration studies (Pinch analysis) 
    Pinch analysis is particularly useful in cases where the process involves many heating and cooling requirements. This method prioritises the most efficient heat exchanges between streams to be heated and streams to be cooled throughout the process, and increases energy efficiency well beyond the limits reached by traditional techniques, which rely on local improvements and utility optimisation.
  • Analysis of fluid production and distribution (steam, hot water, chilled water, compressed air, ventilation) 
    Analysis of energy production and distribution, temperature levels, buffer stocks, losses, network lengths and leaks. Feasibility study, project design and implementation of novel targeted technological solutions for industry. Implementation of waste heat recovery.
  • Validation of energy performance (IPMVP) 
    Validation of the energy savings of energy performance actions using the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP). This method takes into account the influence of external conditions such as weather variations and production variations when measuring the savings. It is in high demand by companies in the case of energy contracting and increasingly by the cantonal authorities when entering into target agreements with the largest energy consumers.
