This year's Swiss Tunnel Congress (STC) was held at the Lucerne Congress Centre from May 30 to June 1, 2017. BG was one of the event's main sponsors and, as in previous years, it had a stand at the exhibition.

Nant de Drance (NdD) piquing interest in Ireland

Patrick Heck, a BG civil engineer and project manager for the structural work on the Nant de Drance caverns, made a presentation on the NdD hydroelectric project on March 22, 2017. The event, which was staged at the headquarters of Engineers Ireland in Dublin, was part of a series of technical meetings organised by the Water and Environmental Engineering Society.

BG obtains Gold rating in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), according to the assessment framework developed by EcoVadis

Recently, at the request of ARKEMA, BG Consulting Engineers France participated in an assessment conducted by EcoVadis, an independent rating agency for sustainability performance. The results are in: our Group earned the Gold rating, placing us among the top 5% of companies rated by EcoVadis, with a score of 64/100!

BG was among the companies present at the last AFRICA 2017 international conference. Organised by Hydropower & Dams in Marrakech from March 10 to 14, the event attracted some 700 people, including attendees from 31 African countries. BG held a joint stand with SolarHydroWatt, its Cameroonian partner, and presented the challenges of developing small hydropower plants in sub-Saharan Africa.

BG involved in the fight against pollution in the Arve Valley

One of the biggest projects ever undertaken by the Federation of Municipalities of the Rochois Region relates to the construction of a sewage-treatment plant that will inject biomethane into the grid belonging to Gaz Réseau Distribution France (GRDF). Via its Water France & Waste unit, BG is the project manager for the construction of this installation, which will eventually produce natural gas for vehicles. The twofold objective is to provide a local road transport company with fuel and reduce atmospheric pollution in the Arve Valley. 

Montpellier City Life: BG contributes its Smart Building expertise

The first Montpellier City Life forum on smart homes took place on March 10, 2017. It was organised by the regional daily Objectif Languedoc-Roussillon on the occasion of a local trade fair. BG’s Jean-Paul Gandolfi, head of the Building France unit, and Loïc Lepage, who leads the Territorial Energy Planning group, were among the twelve experts invited to discuss emerging technologies and their implementation in the field of Smart Building.

Wastewater Treatment in the Basin of Ouargla: 3rd phase underway

Ouargla is an oasis in the middle of Algeria. Overexploitation of deep artesian wells has made the soil very salty and unstable (collapse of cavities). The surface water table is being flooded by poor wastewater treatment systems and defective artesian wells, causing intrusion of polluted and salty water, which in turn leads to the emergence of waterborne diseases and adversely affects farming.
