On September 6, the Delise hydropower plant was inaugurated in Bourg-Saint-Pierre (VS), after two years of work, in the presence of representatives of the project owner, Forces Motrices du Grand-St-Bernard (FGB), and Romande Energie, its shareholder.

BG Part of Pilot Project to Build Upper-Rhine Prison

Called upon as technical and environmental consulting engineers, BG joined a consortium tasked with building the French prison in Lutterbach, on the outskirts of Mulhouse (Upper-Rhine). The facility will provide capacity for 520 prisoners and should be delivered in 2020. 

BG Involved in Two Major Drainage Projects in Zug

Important water drainage works have begun on the city of Zug’s northern fringe, at a depth of 8 to 10 metres. Thanks to a microtunnel boring machine, a new 1.8 kilometre water pipe will be built and is expected to be operational by the autumn of 2018. It will be 2 metres in diameter on the inside and 2.7 metres on the outside.

Jules Mas is one of the two winners of the 2017 BG Sustainable Development Award, presented during the graduation ceremony at the Lausanne University of Art and Design (ECAL) on June 29. He worked on football boots, fully moulded in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and entirely recyclable.

BG facilitates two workshops during ASTANA EXPO 2017- FUTURE ENERGY

Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan, is hosting the “Astana Expo 2017” international exhibition from June 10 to September 10, 2017. In view of the gradual depletion of fossil fuels and the impact of climate change, the organisers decided to make “Future Energy” the theme of their event. Alongside exhibits in the pavilions of the 115 participating countries, various conferences and workshops aim to raise awareness about the better management of natural resources and the implementation of technologies able to produce renewable energy more efficiently. Astana Expo 2017 is an opportunity not only to take stock of the current energy landscape, but also to showcase sustainable solutions and technological innovations that reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Alpiq and the Swiss engineering consultant BG Consulting Engineers signed a memorandum of understanding with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s «R20 Regions of Climate Action» alliance during R20’s Austrian World Summit in June 2017. The three partners will jointly develop sustainable energy projects, primarily in developing and emerging countries.

Another airport success for BG

Through its Building France unit (BFR), BG has won the prime contractorship for the project to expand facilities at the Marseille Provence airport’s low-cost terminal, known as MP2. To do so, it joined forces with Carta Associés (architects), iTarmac (structural engineering consultants) and Baglogics (baggage-handling specialists). After its recent success at the Istres aviation centre, BG is flying high!

Swiss Tunnel Congress 2017: maintenance and renewal of traffic tunnels
