The world road association appointed Philippe Pons, Head of BG's Infrastructure department for France, as organiser of a seminar about the quantitative risk assessment model on January 26th, 2010 in Paris.
This PIARC seminar illustrates the association's mission of identifying, developing and disseminating best practice and giving better access to international information.
As a member of Working Group 2- Manage and Improve Tunnel safety (leaded by Bernhard Kohl from Austria) from PIARC Technical Committee C4 – Road Tunnel Operations, Philippe Pons manages the organisation of the seminar dedicated to the quantitative risk assessment model (DG-QRAM) bound for dangerous goods transport through road tunnels.
The seminar will take place at the OECD conference centre in Paris (France) on January 26th, 2010. It will provide an introduction to the DG-QRAM, jointly developed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the World Road Association (PIARC) in the early 90's. The topics will include the background to the development of the software, an overview of the new ADR regulations and associated risk assessment requirements, and a description of the technical capabilities of the DG-QRAM software.
Case studies will be presented from Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Greece. Among speakers, Raphaël Defert, security engineer at BG Consulting Engineers, will focus on a comparative risk analysis of the Driskos tunnel for Egnatia Odos in Greece.
