Joseph von Aarburg Unanimously Re-elected For 4 Years Within usic Committee

Joseph von Aarburg has been re-elected during the Annual General Meeting of usic which took place in Lausanne last April, 30th, as his first mandate within the committee of the Swiss Association of Consulting Engineers was coming to an end.

usic is the largest businessmen and women association of consulting engineers in Switzerland: it gathers 434 member companies and 381 subsidiaries. usic offices together account for circa 8446 employees. usic member companies achieved a gross turnover of around CHF 1.4 billion in 2008.  In his speech, Flavio Casanova, president of the association, stressed "the key role of the engineer in the civil society. The opening of the Western bypass road of Zurich, the organisation of the ice hockey world championship in modern stadiums and the coming into service of the m2 metro in Lausanne are strong and recent symbols of the qualitative service offerings of Swiss-based engineering firms [...]". Therefore usic representatives are looking for defining the fairest and best suitable tendering system together with the major public purchasing services.

Joseph von Aarburg is a civil engineer (ETHZ). As Vice Chairman of the Executive Board, he contributes to steering BG’s strategic projects. He was a pioneer in introducing advanced IT tools at BG and committing the firm to quality management very early on. Founder of the Bern subsidiary in 1989, he focuses on developing BG’s activities in the German part of Switzerland. His extensive experience has made him an expert in complex projects such as the mail interchange centres for the post office or the new wastewater biological treatment plant in Berne.
