Together with the Transportation Center of the EPFL, BG will present a lecture about the deployment of new standards for rail interoperability in Europe and the issue of cohesion between technology and policy at the European Transport Conference (from 5th to 7th of October 2009 in The Netherlands).
Guillaume de Tilière, responsible for the Transportation competence center at BG Consulting Engineers and Marc Laperrouza from the Transportation Center of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) will jointly present one of the relations of the session "Transport policy and operation" on Monday 5th of October 2009 in the morning.
This intervention will focus on the deployment of new standards for rail interoperability in Europe and the issue of cohesion between technology and policy. The study showcased integrates the results of the "ERTMS High level round table" co-organised in May 2009 by EPFL and BG Consulting Engineers and gathering the main stakeholders of the European railway sector (RFF, SBB, RFI, OBB, UIC, EIM, EEIG, ERA, etc).
The European Transport Conference (ETC) is a key annual event for sharing innovation, best practice and networking with colleagues. The conference draws together over 500 transport practitioners and researchers such as EPFL, ETHZ, TU-Delft, INRETS, as well as different organs or companies related to Europe's transport systems and consulting engineering firms which are committed to finding innovative transport solutions, such as the group BG.
ETC is reporting that the demands on Europe's transport systems continue to both increase and change as a result of a number of factors - economic fluctuation, social change, demographics and the need to become more sustainable. Such change demands innovative and robust responses, which are affordable.
