Transjurane: last Open House on September 24

Published on 16.09.2016

The new section of the A16 motorway between Court and Loveresse in the Bernese Jura will be presented to the public on September 24, 2016 during an Open House. BG will attend this major public event, the last of its kind before the Transjurane connecting Biel to Boncourt in less than one hour is completed next year.

On September 24, the 9.4 km section of the Transjurane between Court and Loveresse – the last section of the A16 motorway – will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to pedestrians, cyclists, and other soft mobility aficionados. The public will be able to travel on the new route and learn more about its many structures, tunnels, covered trenches and bridges.

BG equipment specialists will guide tours through the technical control centres, having been commissioned to design and install the electromechanical equipment for all the structures along the section. The BG civil engineering experts, who headed the project and managed the construction of the Loveresse tunnel, will present the works and describe the various construction phases.

The Open House on September 24 is organised by the Canton of Bern’s Civil Engineering and Motorway Authorities. In addition to tours, the event will feature entertainment, information desks and food booths, which will remain open until midnight.

When the section between Court and Loveresse opens in spring of 2017, the 85 km A16 motorway will be complete. BG has been involved from the outset in the construction of this long, winding motorway through the difficult terrain of the Jura mountains.
