Published on 14.11.2017

Frank Doppenberg, Head of the Building Fluids and Energy Unit at BG, has just been appointed to the Future Energy Efficient Buildings & Districts Committee of the Swiss Competence Centre for Energy Research (SCCER FEEB&D).

Under the Swiss Coordinated Energy Research action plan, the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI), which is part of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, has set up eight Swiss Competence Centres for Energy Research (SCCER), inter-university research networks focusing on seven action areas in the energy sector.

The Future Energy Efficient Buildings & Districts Committee is dedicated to reducing the energy demands of existing and future buildings by developing high performance insulation materials, using renewable energies in buildings, ensuring efficient operation of buildings and connecting them to local multi-energy grids. Researchers at the Competence Centre study a range of socio-economic issues to determine whether the technologies developed are marketable and accepted by users. The goal is to reduce the energy demand of buildings by a factor of 5 in the coming decades.

This appointment positions BG at the forefront of research in the field of energy efficient buildings and districts.
