AFTES Congress 2017: the underground space is a valuable heritage

Published on 08.12.2017

From November 13 to 15 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, the French Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (AFTES) hosted its 15th International Congress. On the theme of “The Value is Underground”, the Congress examined the significance of the underground space as heritage and its relationship with urban development.

BG Consulting Engineers was present with a booth and exhibited its diverse know-how and experience in underground structures. The employees on site answered the many questions from visitors.

BG also participated in several conference sessions, on various tunnelling projects (see below for more information).

Alongside the Congress, the ITA Tunnelling Awards were handed out to nine winners in as many categories, including the best project of the year, the most innovative project and the most innovative initiative. The BG representative at this event, Michele Janutolo-Barlet, was one of just five nominees in the category “Young Tunneller of the Year”.

BG is proud to have participated in an event that was marked by exciting debates and inspiring people, and we look forward to seeing you in 2020 at the next Congress!
